The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil successfully organized a One Day Workshop on “Swachhta Hi Seva” on 18th March 2026 in the college campus.

The programme commenced with the National Anthem, setting a tone of unity and respect. This was followed by a welcome address by the NSS Programme Officer, Mr. Sayed Mustafa Kamal, who warmly welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the workshop. He emphasized the importance of cleanliness as a collective responsibility and introduced the theme of “Swachhta Hi Seva” to the audience.The workshop aimed to promote awareness about cleanliness and encourage students to adopt it as a way of life.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Gulzar Hussain, Assistant Professor, Department of History. In his speech, he elaborated on the importance of making cleanliness a habit rather than a one-time activity. He stressed that adopting cleanliness in daily life is essential for maintaining a healthy environment and a progressive society.
Further, NSS volunteers actively participated by sharing their views and experiences related to cleanliness and community service. Their reflections highlighted the role of youth in bringing positive change in society.
The programme also included the Swachhta Pledge, where all participants collectively pledged to maintain cleanliness and inspire others to do the same.
The workshop concluded with a campus cleanliness drive carried out by staff members and students. The initiative reflected the spirit of teamwork and reinforced the message that cleanliness begins with individual action.
Overall, the workshop was highly successful in creating awareness and motivating participants to adopt cleanliness as a lifelong practice. It served as a meaningful step towards building a cleaner and healthier society.
