Department of Sociology, Govt. Degree College, Kargil hosted Extension lecture, on NEP as a part of ‘Series of Lectures’. The Theme of the talk was : NEP-2020: Challenges and Prospects in Higher Education.
The program was conducted under the patronage of Principal Prof. Disket Angmo . The illustrious speakers for the event were Prof. Ajay Choudhary, Director, Ambedkar Chair, Symbiosis International University, Pune and Dr. Suresh Babu, Associate Professor, School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Stanzin Namgail (Convenor), followed by felicitation of the guest speakers with traditional Khatags.
Prof. Ajay Choudhary delivered his profound expertise and keen perception on the Education framework in India, which stimulated discourse and sparked hope for practical pathways forward in Education.
Dr. Suresh Babu offered passionate discourse and a critical analysis of challenges in higher education under NEP, drawing from institutional experiences.
The convenor, program coordinator, IT professionals, faculty, staff, and volunteers ensured seamless execution, from planning to technical facilitation.
The event saw active participation from faculty members, students, scholars, and education enthusiasts. The audience engaged enthusiastically through questions and discussions, contributing to a vibrant and interactive session.
The session included an interactive Q&A segment, where participants raised queries on topics like gross enrollment, policy evaluation metrics and more. The discussions underscored the need for collaborative efforts between institutions, policymakers, and stakeholders.
Dr. Mohd Ishaq, incharge Principal, GDC- Kargil, formally thanked the guest speakers for their invaluable time out of their busy schedules.
Dr. Suresh Babu then presented the College with his book, titled; “Cultures of Learning - Mapping the new spaces of critical pedagogy in India”
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Assistant Professor Spalzes Angmo.
