GDC Kargil conducts Smooth and Successful Student Council Election.

The Student Council Elections for the academic session 2025–26 at Government Degree College (GDC), Kargil, were conducted in a smooth, democratic, and transparent manner under the supervision of the Department of Political Science.
The election process formally commenced with the issuance of the notification on September 1, 2025, followed by the filing and returning of nominations by the aspiring candidates. Campaigning for the various posts took place over two days, on the 2nd and 3rd of September.
For the posts of General Secretary and Treasurer, only one candidate each had filed nominations. As a result, both candidates were declared elected unopposed.
A Presidential Debate was held on September 4, where candidates contesting for the posts of President and Vice President presented their manifestos and engaged in dialogue on key student issues, showcasing the spirit of healthy democracy and student engagement.
Polling was conducted on September 8, 2025, starting at 10:30 AM, followed by the counting of votes and the declaration of results on the same day. The results were announced in the presence of students and faculty.
College Principal, Prof. Diskit Angmo, addressed the gathering after the announcement of results. She congratulated the elected members and emphasized the importance of student leadership in fostering a vibrant and responsible campus environment.
The entire electoral process was efficiently managed under the leadership of Assistant Professor Sabah Sharif, Head Department of Political Science, who served as the Election Commissioner for the Student Council Elections 2025–26.
The college administration applauded the enthusiastic participation of students and the smooth execution of the electoral process, reflecting the institution's commitment to democratic values and student empowerment.
