September 23, 2025 Department of Geology Academic
The Department of Geology, Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, conducted a one-day geological fieldwork tour for the students of 1st, 3rd, and 5th semesters. The field tour was organized as part of the department’s academic curriculum to provide students with practical exposure to geological processes and field techniques.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Gulzar Hussain and Dr. Wasim Abass Wazir, who guided them during the field observations. During the fieldwork, the students received hands-on training in handling geological field equipments and learnt essential techniques used in geological investigations.
The tour also provided the students with an overview of the geology of the Suru Valley, enabling them to better understand the region’s geological framework and rock formations. The program concluded with a visit to the Parkachik Glacier, where students were introduced to different glacial features and landforms, gaining valuable insights into glacial geology and climate-related processes.
The Department of Geology, GDC Kargil, remains committed to promoting experiential learning and field-based education, ensuring that students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for their academic and professional growth.
