A counselling session was held today at Government Degree College Kargil by representatives from Sindhu Central University Ladakh to provide students with information regarding the university, its courses, admission process, and future academic opportunities.
The session was initiated by Assistant Professor Ali Shabbir with a welcome note on behalf of GDC Kargil and attended by three representatives from Sindhu Central University. Students were given an overview of the university’s vision, available courses, eligibility criteria, and the admission process. The representatives also informed students that provisional admissions are currently open.
During the interaction, the university representatives explained that most of the courses presently offered are centred around Ladakh, its culture, environment, heritage, and surrounding regional needs. They also clarified that some mainstream science courses, such as Chemistry and similar subjects, are not currently available.
The students actively participated in the session and raised several questions regarding the benefits of choosing Sindhu Central University when the University of Ladakh is already available in the region. The representatives responded positively and highlighted the unique identity and long-term vision of the university.
An important part of the session was the discussion on future courses and skill-based programmes. Students suggested that the university should introduce courses related to Artificial Intelligence, animation, 3D design, VFX, filmmaking, and other modern industry-oriented fields.
The representatives welcomed these suggestions and assured the students that the university would consider introducing such courses in the future.
Principal Prof Disket Angmo encouraged the students to participate actively in the discussion during her address. Students further asked questions regarding eligibility, educational background requirements, and other admission-related concerns, which were addressed during the session.
