The Career Counselling and Placement Cell, Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, in collaboration with the Third Planet Foundation, successfully organised a Career Guidance Session on the occasion of National Skill Day.
The programme commenced with Dr. Abid Hussain, Convener, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, welcoming Mr. Ahmad Faraz, Project Manager, Third Planet Foundation, along with the Youth Excellence Programme team. In his welcome address, emphasized the significance of skill development and career planning in enhancing students' employability and preparing them for future opportunities.
Mr. Ahmad Faraz delivered an insightful presentation on the following topics:
- Importance of skill development in the 21st century
- Emerging career opportunities in India and abroad
- Current job market trends and in-demand skills
- Entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities
- Government skill development initiatives and career pathways
The programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of faculty members and students from different departments. An interactive Question and Answer (Q&A) session followed the presentation, during which students actively engaged with the resource persons and sought guidance on career prospects, skill development programmes, and employment opportunities.
As part of the programme, registration forms were distributed among the students for enrolment in a three-month skill development course to be conducted in Kargil under the Youth Excellence Programme of the Third Planet Foundation. The students showed an overwhelming response, with more than 80 registration forms being filled on the spot, reflecting their keen interest in acquiring industry-relevant skills.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Third Planet Foundation team, the college administration, faculty members, and students for their active participation and cooperation in making the event a grand success.
