Achievement Description
On the occasion of the 77th Anniversary of Yom-e-Fateh, the Indian Army (22 Kumaon Regiment) organised an inter-school and inter-college Girls’ Badminton Tournament in Kargil, featuring both Junior and Senior categories. The event was conducted as part of the commemorative activities honouring the liberation of Kargil from Pakistani intruders in 1948.
Students from various educational institutions—including Government High Schools, Government Higher Secondary Schools, and Government Degree College Kargil—actively participated and showcased their sporting talent.
In the Girls’ Doubles Badminton (Senior Category), teams from Government Higher Secondary School Akchamal and Government Degree College Kargil qualified for the final match after displaying exceptional skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
In a closely contested final, Government Degree College Kargil emerged as the Runner-Up, missing the championship title by a narrow margin of just two points.
The match was ultimately won by the team from Government Higher Secondary School Akchamal. The prizes was distributed by CEC LAHDC Kargil And DC Kargil.
The tournament was organised under the supervision of the Indian Army’s 22 Kumaon Regiment, with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, discipline, and youth engagement in Kargil while strengthening the bond between the Indian Army and the local community.
The Principal, faculty members, and the Department of Physical Education of Government Degree College Kargil congratulated the participating students for their commendable performance and expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for providing such a valuable platform to the youth of Kargil.
